The Lauener Foundation (Bern, Switzerland) was brought into being in 2003 under Professor Henri Lauener's will.

Henri Lauener (1933-2002) was professor emeritus of analytical philosophy at the University of Bern and a member of the Institut International de Philosophie.

Lauener was the editor of the international journal of philosophy of knowledge Dialectica and the organizer of a prestigious international congress series on analytic philosophy in Biel and Bern (1973-1993).

Lauener as philosophy teacher, as journal editor, as congress organizer, and, most important, as original philosopher was a major force in developing analytical philosophy in Switzerland.

In numerous essays and monographs, Henri Lauener developed and put forward his Open Transcendentalism.
